When Judd got there, I immediately forgot I was nervous. He’s very friendly and loves to laugh. I immediately felt at ease working with him. He filmed the Vine video with his own phone! And he gave me a lot of swag—Blu-ray copies of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, This is 40, and Funny People. He also signed and personalized my copy of his book, “Sick in the Head.”
Honestly, no—I thought since he was directing, he would have some idea, but I was surprised when he wanted to collaborate on it. And we came up with something that I thought was great!
We first talked about doing a small snippet from The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and then we bounced ideas around. Eventually Judd just said, “Okay, we’re gonna try doing this, just say lines back and forth,” and he started recording on his phone. It started out relatively normal, and then it kind of went bizarre. It ended with my friend Jeff saying, “I’m the president of the United States,” and then I said, “I invented the mop!” Those last two lines were inspired by Judd—he suggested we try those. But the most of the stuff we just improvised.
That’s actually a very weird thought. That’d be kind of fun if he did!
