Stephanie from LA had the night of her life at the
red black carpet premiere of The Huntsman: Winter’s War with Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain. If we had to boil it down to three moments, we’d say: group hug, bathroom encounter and career advice. We’ll let Stephanie fill in the details.
What happened when you got to the premiere?
We stood right by the entrance where the stars were arriving and watched them make their rounds. Charlize came in, and we were one of the first people that she greeted! She gave me a hug right away and thanked me for donating. She was so graceful and warm and friendly right off the bat, and she put me at ease right away. We posed for some photos and she asked me how I was feeling and if I was enjoying myself so far. I said I was so happy to be there and still couldn’t believe I was there! While Charlize walked the carpet and did interviews, Emily and Jessica came up to me. They gave me a hug, asked me how I was doing and we posed for some pictures. They totally made me feel comfortable, and they welcomed me with open arms.
After the three of them finished doing their press stuff, they walked me over to a more crowded area of the carpet, where a lot of photographers were hanging out, and brought me in for a group hug! It felt like a really great sisterhood moment, like a great girl power moment. I was so grateful that they made me a part of that.
That’s the most glamorous group hug ever. How was the movie?
It was great! I can’t say enough good things about it. Every time I watch it now for the rest of my life it’s going to remind me of every detail of that night. Someday, when I’m watching it with my kids, I’ll be able to tell them, “I was at the premiere! I got to meet all the girls!”
Okay, after-party time. What were the highlights?
I ran into Jessica Chastain in the bathroom! She asked me how I enjoyed the movie, and how I was coping with all of the excitement. I told her straight up, “Honestly, I’m still in shock. It hasn’t hit me yet that I’m here. I’m sure it’s gonna hit me later tonight when I’m laying in bed.” She laughed and was like, “I totally understand!”
We were about to leave, but I knew that once I left Charlize’s side I probably wouldn’t get another chance to talk to her, so I let her know how much I respected her as an actress. And then Tori from Omaze mentioned that my dream is to pursue acting, and Charlize got all excited about that! She started telling me what her experience was when she first started auditioning. She said all I have to do is keep going and that persistence is key. She told me to be myself no matter what, to go into every audition being true to yourself and fearless. It was everything i needed to hear in my life. That was my favorite part of the night. Hands down.
Want to say anything to your fellow Omaze donors?
I just want everyone who donated to know that it was a night I didn’t take for granted at all. It was one of the most rewarding things I’ve been able to do. Not only getting to meet Charlize, Emily and Jessica, but knowing that donating to the charity is what got me there, that made me feel like doubly grateful. Keep donating, and keep supporting the charities that you respect and love. Good karma is always gonna come back to you, and my experience is living proof of that. Thank you. You gave me the memory of a lifetime.
