This past spring we offered you and a friend the chance to hang out backstage with Cyndi Lauper and Boy George at their concert in DC, all to support the True Colors Fund.
Co-founded by Cyndi in 2008, True Colors Fund is committed to ending homelessness among LGBTQ youth. They engage and collaborate with young people to forge systemic change in communities around the country through advocacy, training and education, and community organizing. Their goal is to create a world where every young person can be their true selves.
Your generous donations helped fuel awesome programs like the True Fellowship, which annually empowers 7 young people to work on a True Colors Fund related project aimed at building a more LGBTQ-inclusive world.
Young people recognized on the True Colors Fund’s 40 of the 40, a list of 40 LGBTQ young people from around the country who have experienced homelessness, are encouraged to apply to the Fellowship to continue their work as emerging leaders tackling LGBTQ youth homelessness. Additionally, the fellows work directly with a True Colors Fund staff member to learn skills like project management and public speaking to support them in their efforts.
With your awesome support, even more of these incredible projects were created to move forward and expand the dialogue around LGBTQ issues, and that’s something to be proud of time after time.
