Our higher purpose is “We serve world changers.” Who are world changers? Great question. World changers are the charities on the ground, working tirelessly to better people’s lives; the influencers, brands and personalities that use their reach for good; and extraordinary people like YOU who want to make a difference and have fun doing it.
To honor those in our office who embody our core values and go above and beyond on a daily basis, we started the Chief World Changer Award.
By the way, this is Chief (on the left).
Who won the inaugural Chief World Changer Award? Give it up for our Data Scientist, Vitalii!
Our Chief World Changer for each month gets a reserved parking spot right in front of the office. And because we’re in Los Angeles parking is a big perk… trust us.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love working with data and discovering something notable in our users’ behavior. I also love working with my coworkers here at Omaze.
What does it mean to be a world changer?
To me a world changer is someone who is able to make a change that initially affects a small amount of lives, but over time is able to reach all of humanity.
Which of the Omaze core values means the most to you?
They all resonate with me, it is difficult to pick just one. Be human is one of my favorites. We are all human and just acknowledging that on a daily basis is a nice thing to value at a company.
Describe your perfect day.
I’d wake up at 6:00AM. That’s important to me. I usually have my alarm set for 6:00, but end up getting out of bed at 6:15 or 6:30 and I’m already slightly disappointed that I didn’t get out of bed at 6:00. I’d get work done on one of my projects at home, exercise, eat breakfast and get to work. At work I’d make progress on one of the models we’re working on and then share the new knowledge with my team. Then I’d feel useful and accomplished. This is also important to me. In the evening, I’d go for a walk with my wife, and read.
What charity are you passionate about and why?
I’m passionate about educational charities. The world will change if everyone receives a proper education. I always admire people who go to uneducated areas of the world and spread knowledge or those who simply spread knowledge within their own communities. The Wikimedia Foundation is an admirable foundation. They spread knowledge and make it accessible. I believe the solution to most of the humanity’s problems are rooted in a lack of education.
What is your dream Omaze experience?
I’d choose something unusual like travelling to Mars.
How did Vitalii become our inaugural Chief World Changer? Shoutout to Kelly, our Sr. Manager of Customer Behavior & Analytics who nominated him:
Even though Vitalii isn’t my direct manager, he has been an amazing teacher and mentor to help me expand my marketing skill set into data analysis. I’ll often come to him stumped on queries, and I know it would be easier (and quicker for him) to just give me the answer but instead Vitalii consistently takes the time to walk me through the steps so I understand how to solve the problem, enabling me to learn for the future. Particularly over the past year Vitalii has invested a lot of his truly valuable time to helping my growth and I couldn’t be more appreciative.
Thank you Vitalii! Omaze wouldn’t be the same without you.
