Chief World Changer: Paige

| comments

Our higher purpose is “We serve world changers.” Who are world changers? Great question. World changers are the charities on the ground, working tirelessly to better people’s lives; the influencers, brands and personalities that use their reach for good; and extraordinary people like YOU who want to make a difference and have fun doing it.

To honor those in our office who embody our core values and go above and beyond on a daily basis, we started the Chief World Changer Award.

Our latest Chief World Changer? Paige Ma, our Front End Engineer Lead!

Paige was nominated by our Product Manager, Ariel, for going above and beyond in her role while also being the team lead of our front-end development. Despite her considerable workload, Paige still manages to pull in extra tickets most sprints, and she takes extra care to deliver quality work that puts our donors and partners first. Ariel expressed that Paige embodies Omaze’s value of collaboration by not only being willing to offer help, but by being willing to ask for help or clarification. Though, most of all, Paige is just delightfully fun. She’s the perfect balance of silly and serious.

We caught up with Paige to ask her about receiving the award.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

The people I work with. They’re collaborative, interesting and fun. And of course, I like what I do! It is exciting for me to have different projects to work on and to complete them and see them on the website.

Which of the Omaze core values means the most to you?

I’d say Aspire. It is what our company does, using a different way and platform to raise money for charities and helping people to achieve their dreams. For my job, I love to aspire to achieve new goals.

What cause are you passionate about and why?

I am very passionate about gender equality and education. People are always talking about women and men’s right, and I hope one day we can all be equal. And with education, so many people don’t have the resources to be educated and that is a problem we need to address.

What does it mean to be a world changer?

To me it means to care. Care about your job, care about the people you work with, and care about the company and our mission and the charities we work with. And always aspiring to be better and to do better.

How do you plan on celebrating?

My husband and I will hopefully be traveling to New York City soon to see my cousin and her newborn baby.

Favorite book on the company book shelf?

Zen Speaks by Chih Chung Tsai, he is a graphic novelist is from Taiwan. In the book, he takes buddhist stories and sayings and makes each of them a full story with drawings, almost like a comic book. It helps you to understand the sayings and it’s so fun, you never get bored!

Describe your perfect Sunday?

Go to church, meet with friends, take a nap in the afternoon, finish some chores, cook dinner and watch a movie!

Favorite Movie?

You’ve Got Mail.

What is your dream vacation?

Norway! Last year I went there and saw the fjords (long, narrow inlets with steep sides or cliffs) with my husband. It was beautiful and we went on some amazing hikes, I want to go back!

And your dream Omaze experience?

I know this one is impossible, but I would love to have Bob Ross teach me how to paint.

Thank you Paige! Omaze wouldn’t be the same without you.

You can live the dream too!

Check out our current experiences.
