Heather from Glendora, CA had the experience of a lifetime on the set of Grimm in Portland—not far from where she grew up! We got some details on her quality time with Sasha, her epic Wesen transformation, and why the charity means so much to her.
What was it like on set?
It was really cool. It’s crazy to see behind the scenes—it looks so different than what you see on TV. Whoever’s in charge of the graphics is fantastic! Everyone was nice and friendly. Sasha Roiz was amazing. He went out of his way, and he even came in early, before he was called to set, just to hang out with us and take pictures. The creators of the show happened to be directing the episode I was there for, which was awesome. I shook hands with them and told them that my grandmother used to tell me the Grimm fairytales… but she’d tell me the dark side of them. She was a realist.
What was the highlight?
Definitely the Wesen makeover. It was so surreal! One minute I looked in the mirror and it was me, and the next minute, it wasn’t me. The makeup artists were fantastic. They had two artists working on me at once, so they had a system down. They didn’t show me what they had in store, it was a complete surprise. My husband thought it was awesome! He joked that it was the best I’ve looked.
Do you have a connection to the Grimmster Endowment at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital?
I feel strongly when it comes to causes that help children. I have a hard of hearing daughter, and she spent seven weeks in intensive care. These hospitals that care for children are just incredible, the way they keep the treatments going and care for the families as well—it really touches my heart.
Anything you want to say to the Omaze community?
Keep donating! Your generosity really makes a difference in people’s lives. I was completely shocked that I won, and I wish I could’ve taken everyone with me so we could’ve experienced it all together.
